At approximately 12PM on Saturday, WFD was dispatched to a 'shed on fire' at the Pond Ridge Motel in West Woodstock. First arriving officers reported a 20x60 barn about 90% involved. Woodstock Engine 1 arrived first due and laid a 4 inch supply line from the hydrant on Route 4 (this property is the second to last in the hydrant district). Bridgewater and South Woodstock units were called for additional support. Initial fire surpression with 2 1/2 inch lines quickly knocked down the bulk of the fire which had greatly weakened the structure. Further exterior attack with 1 3/4 inch lines using foam completely extinguished the fire. No interior attack was attempted due to the potential for building collapse. The cause of the fire is unknown.
Interesting to know.
